AlarMax Names New Controller

Pittsburgh, PA – AlarMax Distributors, Inc., a leading wholesale distributor of security, fire, access control, AV, and surveillance solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathy Andrews as its new Controller. With an extensive 38-year career in accounting and financial leadership, Andrews brings deep expertise in financial operations, strategic planning, and organizational efficiency.

Andrews began her career at Henry F. Teichmann, Inc. (HFT) in 1987, joining as a receptionist with an associate’s degree in business from Robert Morris College. While steadily advancing through the company, she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Waynesburg University and ultimately became Vice President of Finance. Over her 35-year tenure at HFT, she supported and led the company’s Accounting/Finance, IT, Administration, Office Management, and HR departments, making history as its first and only female executive.

After HFT’s acquisition and restructuring, Andrews spent three years in consulting and contract accounting roles, further expanding her expertise in financial operations and business efficiency.

As AlarMax continues to expand its reach and enhance its service offerings, Shelander’s leadership will play a critical role in optimizing operations and strengthening the company’s position as a market leader.

Beyond her professional achievements, Andrews is a loving and devoted mom to her two grown daughters. She is passionate about volunteering and giving back to her community, with a strong focus on church-related initiatives. A DIY enthusiast at heart, she enjoys tackling hands-on creative projects in her free time. She is also a proud cat mom to Boots and Myla, who keep her on her toes when she’s not busy with her latest project.
